The Workshop
May 24-25, 2025 - El Paso, TX
Join us for a 2-day workshop with Shannon K Dougherty as she talks about her creative process from start to finish for her Boudoir and Portrait sessions. This workshop will include the processes she uses with studio and natural light lighting. Shannon will show you how she sets up her space for sessions. She will go over her processes for styling her clients as well as posing.
This workshop is hands-on, so attendees can implement what they've learned right away!
What is the workshop about?
The Portrait and Boudoir Masterclass
If you think that a portrait is primarily about lighting and apertures, then you are missing out on what makes a portrait truly great! Join Shannon in a deep dive into the powerful interplay of developing an image that moves through the noise of social media feeds. You’ll learn how to find the best angle, optimal lens choice, top posing tips, the power of composition, wardrobe guidelines, and (of course) lighting. Whether working with streamlined, 'beginner' gear on location or a studio packed with professional gear, this class will help you improve how you think about and execute your portrait work. Develop your portraiture with Shannon as your guide.
The Workshop Covers:
Her creative process in styling and set-building
Bringing out the best in a client
Lighting techniques
Confidence in posing
Learn to direct the viewer’s eye
Using mood and story in your images
What to bring?
Bring your camera, lenses, a notepad, and a mind ready to learn from day one. All the lighting and set design items will be provided from the studio
Why Attend?
Attending local workshops saves you thousands of dollars in travel costs. I have been hosting workshops since 2013, and in that time, I have watched regular attendees move from new photographers to owning a studio and making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. Photography education will grow your business/hobby faster than anything else can. You have heard the saying, “Why reinvent the wheel?” If someone can help you accelerate your learning curve, teach you what they know, and bring you up to speed faster, saving you hundreds of mistakes, what is that worth to you?
